I believe that a plant-based diet is one of the healthiest ways to fuel your body. A plant-based diet is any diet that focuses on foods derived from plant sources. This can include fruit, vegetables, grains, pulses, legumes, nuts and meat substitutes. Plant-based foods are rich in nutrients, fibre, and antioxidants, and eating more of them can help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you’re trying to go plant-based, it may feel overwhelming at first. But don’t worry, there are resources available to help you make the transition. Here are a few of my tips that helped me to start a plant-based diet:
- Take it slow:
You don’t have to go vegan overnight. Start by incorporating more plant-based foods into your diet gradually. It might be a good idea to cut meat out for just one day a week, and increase that as you feel comfortable. (This is why Meat Free Mondays are so good!)
- Find alternatives:
There are plenty of to meat, dairy, and other animal products. Check out your local grocery store or health food shop to find options that work for you. Eating food that you are familiar with makes the transition to plant-based so much easier.
- Experiment with recipes:
Cooking with plant-based ingredients can be fun and exciting. Look for to try, or experiment with your favourite dishes to make them plant-based.
- Educate yourself:
Learn more about the impact that animal agriculture has on the environment and on human health. The more you know, the easier it will be to make the transition to a more plant-based diet.
