Back when we started in 1991 most people thought we were crazy. “Plants that look and taste like meat, made in your kitchen!?” Okay, maybe we were crazy, but with passion and determination, great things can happen.

Back when we started in 1991 most people thought we were crazy. “Plants that look and taste like meat, made in your kitchen!?” Okay, maybe we were crazy, but with passion and determination, great things can happen.

WHEN WE SAY ‘THE VEGAN STANDARD’ , WHAT DO WE MEAN?

Our family founded The Fry Family Food Co. in 1991 from our tiny home kitchen. My dad Wally was looking for a way to create plant-based meat alternatives for his family. As lifelong vegetarians, my mom and I had convinced him to give up meat and he was looking for a replacement that could offer the same taste, texture, and levels of protein.

In the three decades since, we have pioneered the growth of plant-based foods, crafting over 40 different products, and making quality vegan meat alternatives accessible and available in over 40 countries.

Fry’s continues to be a market leader in the vegan food category, and the work we have done on the ground with NGOs, activists, advocacy groups and leading vegan influencers has meant we have been at the forefront of the vegan movement in many territories, helping to build a global vegan standard.

Our focus continues to be crafting quality meat alternatives made from the best quality plant proteins we can find. We source top non-GM proteins from ethical sources, that are rigorously tested and certified free from pesticides. With these raw materials we produce quality products that are 100% vegan. From day one, my parents believed in only creating food they would be willing to feed their own family. Thirty years later, this has not changed.

OUR MISSION

Every year, we look at turnover and put up a chart to show how many animal lives would be saved if someone had chosen a Fry’s Product instead of a meat product. In 2019 that number was 10,055 pigs, 647,737 chickens, 11,354 cows and 3 million prawns.
