Mini Pizzas

Mini pizzas made from scratch in under 20 minutes. With just two ingredients for the dough (flour and yoghurt), these little pizzas come together so easily, and they are ideal for busy weeknights, lunchboxes, or a fun weekend activity. Fry's Hot Dogs are a go-to favourite for good reason — beloved by meat-eaters and vegetarians alike, they're versatile, easy to cook, and pair well with just about everything. Finish with fresh basil, cherry tomatoes, and a drizzle of pesto for a meal that looks far more impressive than the effort involved. The bases also freeze beautifully, making them a brilliant make-ahead option to keep on hand.

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Makes: 8 mini pizzas

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-raising flour, plus an extra 1/2 cup for dusting
  • 1 1/4 cup plain Greek yoghurt or vegan yoghurt
  • Store-bought ready-made bread dough (optional, for a quicker fix)
  • 200g tomato passata or pizza sauce
  • 160g grated mozzarella cheese or vegan mozzarella
  • 4 Fry’s Hot Dogs, prepared as per packaging
  • 100g cherry tomatoes, halved

Toppings of Your Choice

  • 5g fresh basil
  • 1 Tbsp basil pesto
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour and yoghurt together until it forms a dough. It should be pliable and stretchy, not sticky. If it is sticky, add a little more flour.
  2. Divide the dough into 8 equal balls.
  3. Sprinkle flour on a work surface and flatten each ball using your hands or a rolling pin.
  4. Place the mini pizza bases (4 at a time) into the air fryer at 180 degrees Celsius for 6 minutes, turning halfway. Repeat with the next 4. The quantity may vary depending on the size of your air fryer.
  5. Top each par-cooked base with tomato passata, mozzarella, sliced Fry’s Hot Dogs, fresh basil, and cherry tomatoes.
  6. Return to the air fryer for 4 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.
  7. Serve straight out of the air fryer, finished with your desired fresh toppings. We used a drizzle of basil pesto, sliced avocado, and fresh basil.
  8. An easy and fun recipe that is sure to become a regular fixture on a family menu.

Tip

These pizza bases freeze beautifully. If you’re making them ahead of time, prepare the recipe up until step 5, top with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and Fry’s Hot Dogs, then place on parchment paper on a baking tray. Once frozen, transfer to a ziplock bag and store in the freezer for a quick and easy meal or snack.
